Let’s Talk About the Fruit of the Spirit: Self-Control

Self-control it’s not for the weak. It’s a strength produced by the Holy Spirit, a gift that allows us to rise above our impulses and emotions. As the Bible says in Galatians 5:23, “...gentleness and self-control. Against such things, there is no law.”

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed their passions and sinful desires to the cross, crucifying them there. This means we have a choice, every single day, to walk in the Spirit instead of our flesh.

Now, let me keep it real: I dislike it when people play in my face. It’s easy to want to react, to let anger or hurt dictate my actions. But God reminds me to cast down those thoughts and emotions, to pause and reflect instead of lashing out.

This morning, as I reflected on His grace, I realized how many are saved by it including me. No one’s perfect; we all have a past. My past could easily resurface and reveal the ways others have hurt me, but that’s not who I am anymore.

The new ME, living as a follower of the Lamb of God, chooses to pray for the lost, offering mercy and grace instead of bitterness. Why? Because I know many are living with lost spirits, just as I once was.

I’m here to remind you, Beautiful, that you have a choice. Whenever you feel the pull of your old self the part of you that wants to react, to hurt, to lash out remember, the Holy Spirit gives you the strength to choose differently.

Let’s be still and embrace the fruit of the Spirit. Let’s choose love, peace, and self-control, not the kind of spirit that hurts others but the Spirit that heals.

I’ve been studying human behavior and the way our minds work, and it’s truly intriguing how God designed us. With His Spirit, we can overcome what seems impossible.

Take this moment to reflect: Where can you practice self-control today? Where can you choose grace instead of anger, peace instead of chaos, or love instead of resentment?

Let’s walk in the Spirit together. You’re not alone in this journey.
